a lovely table

my cousin sent this photo from mexico of my aunt Rufinas "ofrenda" and it is beautiful. she is a fantastic cook and makes a killer mole de cacaguate (peanut mole). i love the wholesomeness of these dishes. the casuelas (terra cotta pots) look amazing. this table is very personal to me. it is for those i love.

hello again....i am here

i feel a bit disconnected from the blogging community. i have been a busy girl and have not had a chance to stop and post. today as i have a chance to sit and type, i began checking on my "favorites" and realize that one never knows what happens in the lives of those who "stop" blogging. "la cucina de viola" is a perfect example of this. i love this blog, but she has stopped posting since may? is she okay is my first thought, did she move to a spectacular villa in italy? did her laptop die and she has not had a chance to get something new? so this brings me to me! my last post was over month ago so for this i apologize. life gets busy and time flies and well lets face it....we get tired and just want to use any free time to sleep. anyway - i do have a new gig. i am "officially" cooking....yes! i was hired as a sous chef for a new wine bar bistro in glendora called the parlour http://www.theparlourwine.com i can't tell you how excited i am about this new venture. i just love it. i am learning so much and get to work with an amazing group of people. here is to me...chin chin - i am a happy girl.

god's candy

i went to the 99 cent store www.99only.com and bought my produce for the week. they have such a great selection of fruit right now and it is only 99 cents. i arranged it in this beautiful bowl that my mother gave me for my birthday. our ceramics teacher Juliana made it. she is sooooo talented and i think she is great. anyway, when it put it all together, i thought wow! this is so pretty, healthy and from above.

my little mouse

we went to disneyland as part of our 4th of july weekend. whew.....not what it use to be - it was exhausting for me. no more fantasy land for this family, now it is star tours, space mountain, indiana jones, autopia, pirates of the caribean, big thunder rail road, the matterhorn, haunted mansion and then all over again and again and again. i did get him to stop for this photo......soooo cute!

hurray! its my birthday today and i am spending it with my family...best present ever.

this is my favorite corner of my kitchen thus far. it has all my favorite things. i still have a ways to go, but its getting there.....hurray!
