could this be true....
is this really the Joy Of Cooking circa 1953? i found a copy and it is worn and beautiful. this is one of the must have cook books that i did not have and there it was on a little bookshelf in a little antique store in my own little town. it makes me wonder who owned it? what did they make? what was their favorite receipe? what occasions did they use it for? so many questions and so many great recepies. i will tackle it with love and care - and who knows, i might just try the "squirrel"..heee...heeee - calm down i'm just kidding .

its a celebration
today is el dia de los muertos or the day of the dead and contrary to what most people believe, it is a day of celebration. it is a day to remember our loved ones and to share their story. it is a day to cry, laugh and love. and what a great weekend it was. it started on saturday in pomona. the amoca museum www.ceramicmuseum.org/about-amoca.htm hosted a dia de los muertos festival full of art, food, music and crafts and boy did they deliver. fun was had by all!

*tonight we attended a mass at forest lawn to honor el dia de los muertos. it was a very emotional, but joyful service. ofelia esparza is a wonderful artist who has an exibit of her work and also made a couple of amazing ofrendas. she said something that i found very profound. she said that her mother told her that we suffer three deaths. the first is when we take our last breath, the second is at our burial and the third and worst of all is when we are forgotten. this is why it is so important to continue to celebrate our loved ones and by telling their story they will never be forgotten.

to ipad or not to ipad
my neighbor Brian came over today to hang out for a bit and he brought a friend. ipad. i have not had a chance to play with the ipad much since it is always crowded at the apple store and everyone seems to be always playing with it. i have been debating on replacing my lap top with either an ibook or and ipad and after my encounter with it tonight, i am now even more confused. it is a very slick, sexy piece of technology-now i know first hand why people have gone nuts over them. it was very easy to move around from one site to another, the e-reader is very cool, the video stream is crystal clear and all those apps are sooooo addicting. anyway, a fun time was had and as always it had to end. Brian had to go home and take his daughter to a baby sitting gig and of course he took my new friend. oh well i will have to be patient until my next encounter..... oh wait - robert just told me that there is a new friend in town....airbook.

fun friday
yes its fun friday and i am updating my blog. i browsed and browsed for a new designs and this is what i came up with. it is not difficult for me to look in the fridge and come up with something pretty good, but designing a blog....omg - nearly impossible so please be kind and let me know what you think. is the font big enough, is the color calming, is it pretty much overall eye friendly - you know all the asthetic stuff. as for the subject matter, that is remaining the same its gonna be pretty much about ME!...kidding well about my day, my family, my friends and of course my food. so here i go again!
